How to Become a Christian
By Senior Minister, Rev. Mark Foster

"I have known infants who have been baptized and grown-up in faith families in ways where they learned to hear the voice of God in clear and natural and intimate ways much like knowing the voice of their own mother.  These children had a congregation gather around them, pray for them, and ask the Holy Spirit of God to bless the child in ways that lead to life eternal.  Parents and or sponsors vowed before God to show the child by their teaching and example the ways of following Jesus Christ.  At around the age of 12, when the Bible tells us that Jesus went to the Temple, I have seen young men and women confirm for themselves publicly their deep desire to follow Jesus Christ and commit to turning their lives away from sin and toward God through the power of the Holy Spirit.  With the laying on of hands and the prayers of the people, with a humble heart, and a willing spirit, I have seen young people grow into faithful followers of Jesus.

I also know of a man in his 40’s who had been addicted to cocaine for 20 plus years and cried out to Jesus as he lay on his bathroom floor convinced that he would die any second from a fatal overdose of illegal drugs.  He met Jesus there became sober and an active part of a church I was attending.

I met a man in his 60’s who was a devout Jew and found Jesus at the communion table when he participated in the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first-time.

In these scenarios, the people became a “Christian” or one who follows “Christ” – the Son of God – Savior of the world.  The stories are dramatically different but they all have one thing in common: a personal relationship trusting Jesus with our life."

If you would like to take a step toward following Jesus, we would love to talk with you.  You may contact Rev. Mark Foster or any of our staff if you would like to talk to someone about giving your entire life to the God who loves you perfectly. Our number at the church is 405-359-2287.
