Kairos Prison Ministry
Whatever you do unto the least of these, you do unto me.”  Matthew 25:40

Kairos Prison Ministry International is a lay-led Christian Ministry which conducts a highly-structured program designed to show Christ’s love to incarcerated persons and their families. Kairos Ministry is available in both male and female correctional institutions.  Kairos Prison Ministry offers opportunities to serve both inside and outside the prison walls.

A Kairos Inside group is made up of Christian volunteers who have agreed to be part of a great spiritual journey into the prison. The Inside team must be made up of persons of the same gender as the incarcerated participants. Team members have individually prepared themselves for this journey by participating in their own version of a Kairos weekend (Walk to Emmaus).

Kairos Inside program offers a 3 day weekend held inside the prison, at which participants are given an opportunity to experience a religious renewal. Many participants accept God’s call to a life of Christian witness and service to one another during their stay in the institution and beyond.

A second group is a Support group, which works outside the prison to supply the support and materials needed for the Kairos. Usually this involves cooking meals, baking cookies, organizing and making posters and letters, and providing lots and lots of prayers. The Support team can be mixed gender. Together an Inside group and a Support group make one team.

Another Kairos Ministry is Kairos Outside, which is conducted outside the walls of correctional institutions. Kairos Outside is a weekend retreat designed to provide support for the female loved ones of those incarcerated. During this weekend, the guests will have a chance to interact with other women whose lives have also been impacted.

Kairos empowers people across the nation to support the expansion of Christ’s presence in the lives of men and women inside prison, their loved ones, and prison officials affected by the darkness of prison.

The Christian community can participate in Kairos Ministry by supplying cookies, funds, posters, letters, placemats and prayers. For more information about Kairos please contact Kairos Liaison Patsy Law at 405-359-7167 or 405-290-8099.
