Peter, the Priest, the Denied by Rev. Mark Foster   |  Sunday, 07 March 2010

Welcome
Welcome to Acts 2 United Methodist Church!  We are so glad that you are here and we believe that you haven't  found this website by accident but by the leading of the Holy Spirit.  It is our prayer that you will be blessed and uplifted today. We hope that you will join us for worship when you are ready. We will be looking for you!

What to Expect

First and foremost expect to experience God through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

When you first enter the doors of Acts 2, you will be met by one of our friendly greeters. These people are there to welcome you and help you get acquainted with the church.

You will find a coffee bar and refreshments in the entry area left of the main Sanctuary doors, where all are welcome to help themselves to a drink or a snack.

First-time guests are invited to visit our “Guest Services” booth located to the right of the main Sanctuary doors, near the offices. Volunteers there can assist you in finding your way around, and you are welcome to gather information as well.

If you have children ages birth to three years old, we can assist you in checking your child into the nursery, where you will meet our caring nursery staff. You will also receive a parent pager to be used in case your child needs you during the service.

As you enter the main Sanctuary doors, you will be greeted again and receive a bulletin.  The bulletin contains the order of the service, sermon notes and current announcements. You are welcome to sit anywhere in the Sanctuary that you feel comfortable.

If you have children ages four years or older, they are invited to attend the opening of our Worship service with their families. Our Children’s Minister, Rev. Nancy Hamilton, will call the children forward and give a short children’s sermon, and then lead the children out of the sanctuary to their respective classes. The children will return to the sanctuary later in the service to receive Holy Communion with their families.

You are invited to receive Holy Communion following the sermon. Our ushers will direct you to come forward.  You may take as much time as you like for prayer.  When you are ready to receive the bread, simply place your hands out in the form of the cross and one of our Communion Stewards will serve you the bread; you will then be offered the cup. The bread may then be dipped into the cup. This is the ancient Christian practice known as intinction.  Here at Acts 2 we use grape juice. After taking Holy Communion, you may stay and pray as long as you would like or return to your seat.  At Acts 2, we offer Holy Communion every week and welcome everyone to participate.  If you are unable to come forward and would like to receive communion, please let one of our ushers know and the stewards will meet you at your seat.

The service will end with a Sending Forth, after which our staff would be happy to meet you!
